For simplicity direct access to parts of this table is available as follows: Judah's "second wife", Tamar, had two children - Perez, and Zerah. The children of Perez by an unknown wife were Hezron, Ram also called Aram, Caleb whose clan is refered to as Chelubai, and Kenaz. He also had a son Segub by the un-named daughter of Machir, and a son Hamul by Abijah (a lady who possibly later married his son Caleb). Then there are some descendants of Perez whose ancestry is unclear, and many people who are known to belong to the tribe of Judah, but whose ancestry is again unclear. It should be noted that the names in the generation immediately following the last two headings are not necessarily siblings, nor even of the same era, as the number of links missing could vary. It should also be noted that in some cases a clan (or tribal) name is given rather than that of an individual, where this is known the name is followed by a star(*).
