Assir-522

In Matt 1:12 Salathiel is called the son of Jechoniah. In Luke 3:27 Shealthiel is called the son of Neri. One suggestion is that he was adopted by Jechoniah, another, is that he was the son of Neri who married Jechonish's daughter. Another suggestion is that Neri married the widow of one of Jeconiah's sons. Since 1 Chron 3:17 appears to list Shealtiel (Salathiel) as the son of Assir (the captive) this idea is followed here, but it is speculative.
