His son was one of David's mighty men (2 Sam.8:18; 23:22; 1 King.1:8; 4:4; 1 Chron.11:22 etc) He is presumed to have lived in Kabzeel ( 2 Sam.23:20) and was a priest (1Chron.27:5) not the High Priest as KJV in error. He is probably the same as the leader of 3,700 Aaronites who supported David in 1 Chron.12:27. See also 1 Chron.27:34 who may be his grandson, or if the Masoretic is wrong and other Hebrew scripts are correct this is the same person.


Benaiah-1226

2 Sam 23:20 a Levite of Kabzeel in Judah. 2 Sam 23:20,21; 1 Chron.11:23 killed two lionlike men and an Egyptian giant as one of David's valiant heroes. 2 Sam.8:18; 20:23 commander of David's bodyguard, the Cherethites and Pelethites. 1 Chron.27:5,6 commanded the military divcision for the 3rd month. 2 Sam.15:18; 20:23 remained faithful in Absolom's rebelion. 1 Kings 1:8 remainded faithful when Adonijah tried to seize the throne. 1 Kings 1:8,38; 2:24-46 served Solomon as commander in chief of the army, carried out the execution of Adonijah , Joab and Shimei for Solomon. 1 Kings 4:4 replaced Joab as commander in chief.
